Carpe Diem Con Leche!

Translation:  Seize the day with a glass of milk. Or a bowl of ice cream. Or a cup of yogurt. No matter what your dairy food of choice, celebrate this June Dairy Month and support Nebraska dairy farmers who work hard every day to deliver safe, healthy, wholesome dairy products to your family’s dinner table.

Did you know there are 230 family-owned dairy farms right here in Nebraska?

Did you know that the average Nebraska dairy cow will produce 6.4 gallons of milk per day?

Milk is America’s number one food source of calcium, potassium and vitamin D:  The 2010 Dietary Guidelines confirm three servings of dairy each day, and the USDA MyPyramid logo has been replaced by a plate that depicts a glass of milk as part of a complete meal. Those are recommendations that are hard to ignore!

So today, this June Dairy Month, and every day, make it a point to celebrate agriculture in our state. Your teeth, your mind and your body will thank you.
