Budget Issues to Drive Farm Bill Debate

The 2012 Farm Bill will be written with budget cutting in mind. That’s the assessment of two American Farm Bureau public policy specialists:  Mary Kay Thatcher, Senior Director of Congressional Relations, and John Anderson, Senior Economist for American Farm Bureau Federation. 

Anderson says the 2012 Farm Bill will likely address what are referred to as deep crop losses versus shallow losses.  This would be done through the Systemic Risk Reduction Program, or SRRP. Listen more here.
